Nickel-Free Earrings
BRASS EARRINGS – Scandinavian Form, Personal Expression
BRASS EARRINGS — frame your face with considered shapes and a personal touch. DANSK Copenhagen brings a clean Scandinavian approach to brass jewellery, balancing thoughtful form with an expressive finish. Choose the design you love, with clear information about materials, fit and care. This collection features brass earrings, separate from our 316L stainless-steel ranges.
Nickel release, lead and cadmium
Our brass jewellery complies with EU REACH requirements for nickel release, lead and cadmium content. Nickel release concerns the nickel that can be released during contact with your skin. It is different from the total nickel content of a material. Meeting these requirements does not mean that nickel, lead or cadmium are completely absent.
If you are searching for nickel-free earrings, consider the materials of every part that touches your ear. Posts, hooks and backings matter as well as the decorative design. Check the individual product information, or contact us for details about a particular pair. We do not assume that every component has the same material simply because the earring is described as brass.
Choose for fit, weight and movement
Think about how you want your earrings to feel throughout the day. Check the dimensions and any listed weight, not just the photographs. A longer design adds movement, while a shape closer to the earlobe creates a more contained look.
Fasten your earrings securely without pressing the backing tightly against your ear. Consider how the design works with glasses, headphones, scarves and your hairstyle. Avoid sleeping in earrings or wearing them during activities where they could catch or pull.
Brass earrings and sensitive ears
Compliance with nickel-release requirements is not a promise that every pair will suit every person with a metal allergy. If you have a known allergy, ask your dermatologist for advice and confirm the contact materials before choosing. These fashion earrings are not intended for a new or healing piercing. Stop wearing them if irritation develops.
Care for your brass earrings
Brass earrings are not waterproof. Remove them before showering, swimming or exercising, and avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, lotions and cleaning products. Put your earrings on after your skincare and styling products have dried.
Handle with clean, dry hands. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth and store separately in a dry place. Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing products unless the product instructions recommend them. Follow any additional guidance for pearls, stones or other decorative details.
Explore a different material
If you prefer a separate steel alternative, explore our hypoallergenic earrings and learn about 316L surgical steel. Stainless steel contains nickel and should not be confused with a nickel-free material. For water-resistant designs, browse our separate waterproof earrings, or explore the wider earrings collection for more styles.

Brass Jewellery — Classic Craftsmanship
These designs are part of an earlier chapter of DANSK Copenhagen — made from brass with gold or silver plating. The same considered design, the same Nordic minimalism. A different material, honestly presented. Each one is a beautiful object in its own right.
A Note on Brass
Brass is a warm, workable metal with a long history in jewellery making. Unlike 316L stainless steel, brass is not waterproof or tarnish-free — it benefits from a little more care. Keep it dry, store it away from moisture, and clean gently with a soft cloth. Treated well, brass jewellery ages with character.

FAQ
What is brass jewellery?
Brass is a metal alloy made from copper and zinc, with a warm golden tone. It has a long history in jewellery making and is valued for its workability and classic appearance. DNSK brass pieces are finished with gold or silver plating.
Is brass jewellery waterproof?
No — brass is not waterproof. Unlike 316L stainless steel, brass can tarnish and discolour when exposed to moisture over time. Keep brass jewellery dry and store it away from humidity for best results.
How do I care for brass jewellery?
Keep it dry and away from moisture, perfume, and harsh chemicals. Clean gently with a soft dry cloth. Store in a cool, dry place — ideally in a pouch or box to minimise air exposure.
