The steel designs in this selection are made from premium 316L surgical steel, which resists corrosion and tarnishing. Silver-tone steel designs have the steel's natural colour all the way to the core, with no silver plating. Gold-tone steel designs are ION plated for lasting colour.

Most jewellery tolerates water. DANSK Copenhagen necklaces are designed for it. The 316L grade adds molybdenum to the steel alloy — the same reason it is known as marine grade. It resists salt, chlorine, and daily moisture at a level lower grades simply cannot match. Can I wear my DNSK necklace in salt water?
Yes — 316L stainless steel is known as marine grade for a reason. It resists salt, chlorine, and daily moisture at a level lower grades cannot match. Rinse with fresh water after prolonged exposure to the sea as good practice.
Will the gold finish hold up in water?
Yes — DNSK gold necklaces are finished with 18K ION plating, which bonds directly onto the 316L steel with far greater force than standard gold plating. The steel base cannot tarnish, so nothing works against the gold from underneath.
